Kate's Belly at 5 1/2 months

Well, I highly resisted getting a blog since we didn't have kids yet. It seems like only those with Kids are allowed, or that is what I have seen. But we kept getting hassled about having a blog from all our friends, so Rob set one up. I felt too computer illiterate to do so, but after my first lesson, I am writing our first of many posts.

I made a promise to myself to not have any documentation of just how huge I would get during this pregancy. I have made death threats to Rob and my dad if they show anyone. Then, I see Rob already had some posted, and I figured, I cant hide anymore. I need to embrace the belly, and the fact that these pictures will be documented forever, and I need to get over it. The fact that we are even having this baby is a TOTAL miracle, so I should be proud. I promise to put updates on my just how huge i am getting. I hope you can all get a laugh.

Each morning, I wake up to find a new stretch mark. Rob says it looks like wolverine got a hold of my stomach and went to town. As my Dr. said, "you aren't really meant to have babies. You are like a 5th grader you got pregnant." Ahhh, so comforting to hear. I have nothing more to expect than to get gigantic.

We are at almost 6 months, and I already feel like I cant get bigger, but know I will. We are especially nervous at this time because the ultrasound we had showed the baby had multiple Choroid plexus cysts in his brain. It only appears in 1% of baby's, but of that 1%, it is very rare that it is fatal. They say the cyst are linked to a chromosomal disease called Trysome 18. Baby's don't live longer that a week, or are born still born. Luckily, my age plays a big rule, and brings teh risks down even lower. Plus, signs of the disease, like deformed face, clubbed feet and hands, and heart or intestines on the outside are not present. The Dr. said most likely the baby will be fine and have no problems, and of the the cyst disappear often. If they don't, it still wont effect the baby in any way. So either the baby has it, or doesn't. We will have to pray and wait for when he is born. He says they are born all the time with cysts, and no one thinks anything about it, expect that babies who have had Trysome 18 have all had cysts present. so they have to warn us to be prepared, and we are. we know that all we wanted was to get pregnant, and have this baby. If the Lord has a different plan, we will try toi accept it. But we both feel overwhelming peace about the whole issue, which is unlike us in character, so we know the Lord is very mindful of us. We are proceeding as normal. We bought a crib on Saturday and a glider. We cant wait to do the babies room. We are having our bedding made cause I detested everything from the store. I'm not into Teddy bears on parade really. So this baby will come home to a darling room, and parents who are overjoyed he is here. Keep us in your prayers and we will keep you updated on what we know from the Dr,'s. But please, don't worry cause we aren't. We are just excited!!!!

A truly momentous occasion! Not the pregnancy...but the fact that you're BOTH bloggers. Kate, I'm proud of you! I guess I'm also proud that you're incubating a little human inside of you as well! Both are good things!
